We’re delighted to announce a new project in collaboration with the Sheffield’s Showroom Workstation which on Saturday May 11th 2013 will bring film, music and industry together to celebrate two centenaries that have markedly changed Britain’s cultural and economical landscape: the birth of Benjamin Britten and the discovery of stainless steel (a discovery made right here in Sheffield!).
To mark these we have commissioned two pieces to be performed in one programme. One is a newly commissioned score written by our Associate Composer, Charlie Piper, to some of the BFI’s (British Film Institute’s) recently restored archive film about the stainless steel industry and its process of production. The other, a newly commissioned film in response to Britten’s Six Metamorphoses after Ovid in which Ensemble 360 oboist Adrian Wilson will work closely with film maker Katie Goodwin.
